IWC’s Cookie Policy
Inspiring Women Changemakers
Last updated: 2 November 2026.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device when you visit. Some are needed for the site to work. Others tell us how the site is used, or let content from other services, such as videos, appear on our pages. Similar technologies work in the same way and this policy covers them too.
This policy applies to www.inspiringwomenchangemakers.co.uk. It explains which cookies we use, why, and how you can control them. Our Privacy Statement explains how we use personal data more generally.
How we use Cookies
2. Your choices
When you first visit, our cookie banner asks whether you agree to cookies that are not strictly necessary. We do not set those cookies unless you agree. Rejecting them does not stop you using the website.
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the cookies banner in our footer.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Instructions are at allaboutcookies.org. If you block all cookies, parts of the site may not work.
- You can stop Google Analytics collecting data about you on any site by installing Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Your choice is itself stored in a cookie so we can remember it. Without it, we would have to ask you on every visit.
3. Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These keep the website secure and working, and remember your cookie choice. They do not need your consent.
| Cookie | Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
| [Cookie consent plugin cookie name] | This website | Remembers your cookie choices | Up to 12 months |
| wordpress_test_cookie | This website | Checks that your browser accepts cookies | Session (deleted when you close your browser) |
Analytics (only with your consent)
These tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they arrive, so we can improve the site. We use the information in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you.
| Cookie | Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another and records visits | 2 years |
Google may process this data in the United States and other countries. See Google’s own privacy information for details.
Embedded content (only with your consent)
Some pages show YouTube videos. When you play or load one, YouTube (owned by Google) may set cookies on your device and collect information about your viewing. We block these until you agree. Until then, you see a placeholder instead of the video, and you can watch it on YouTube directly.
| Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
| YouTube (Google) | Estimates bandwidth to play video smoothly | Up to 6 months |
| YouTube (Google) | Records a unique ID for statistics on videos you view | Session |

4. Other websites
We do not control cookies set by other websites and services, including when you follow a link from our site. Please read their cookie and privacy policies.
5. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when we add or remove cookies, and change the date at the top. If a change affects the cookies we need your consent for, we will ask for it again.
