Justine Osmotherley

Justine Osmotherley from Clarion Solicitors Ltd, a Founder Patron of Inspiring Women Changemakers, has been nominated by her colleagues, Jane Ingleby and Stephanie Douthwaite.

They say “Justine is the head of Clarion’s Private Client division and has been described as superb by the Legal 500 Family Law Service. Her vision is undoubtedly to be a role model to up-and-coming lawyers and peers alike.

While she has enjoyed great professional successes, she understands what it means to hold a powerful and dominant position to those looking up to her. She’s humble, truly caring and highly intelligent. She’s is an inspiration to all – male, female, young and old. That’s why we think she’s the perfect candidate for the Heart of Gold Award.”

Who does she help?

“Justine is recognised as a Leading Individual in Family Law in the Legal 500 with a truly empathetic approach to her clients, who are often undergoing upsetting and difficult family situations.

She is also named as a top tier individual in the Chamber and Partners Guide. It notes her ‘constructive and sensible’ approach, appreciated by all those she deals with. These are just a few descriptions of the reputation Justine has for her practical, down-to-earth and supportive approach.

It is fair to say that these descriptions also translate to the way Justine supports her colleagues, as well as clients. This has enabled her team to build confidence and abilities to match. She’s helped us to grow.

Justine leads by example. Although she’s a very strong manager and businesswoman, she also demonstrates caring, patient and nurturing qualities. Justine makes us feel valued and motivated, and she finds the perfect balance to both manage and befriend. We feel privileged to work for and alongside her.

Justine recently donated tickets to see Little Mix to the Leeds Community Foundation, which she supports with both time and money. The tickets went to The Market Place who support young people with mental health and emotional issues.

She received message of thanks which concluded “There should be more people like you in the world” – and we don’t know anyone who would disagree!”

What’s worked?

“Justine acts for high net worth individuals and vulnerable clients alike. She will always go the extra mile. Her client care is exceptional and does not waver, in spite of her hectic schedule as an equity partner and manager of a huge team of lawyers. Justine has a unique approach; she truly cares about people. This shows in all her interactions – personal and professional.

She will do all she can to diffuse potentially heated and difficult issues arising in her cases, not only in the best interests of her clients but also the family as a whole, who she will always keep in mind. To opposition lawyers, Justine will show courtesy and respect in every way, notwithstanding the level of acrimony in any particular case.”

What has she learnt? Any challenges?

“Justine is the first female equity partner at Clarion. It’s a demanding role which she embarked upon whilst in the process of adopting her youngest daughter, who has special needs. Justine does not shy away from a challenge and will never make excuses. She is strong, driven and yet modest. To learn from her is a gift.

She’s also mum to two gorgeous young girls, who no doubt can’t wait to grow up to be just like her. Justine is a superwoman – balancing high-power with care and commitment to giving back. She works tirelessly and never lets priorities slip. If anything, we would like her to rest more!”
