Community-minded Robertson backs Inspiring Women Changemakers
Construction firm Robertson is committed to making a positive social impact. It seeks to add value through all its community-based projects, from creating Community Hubs within the schools it builds, to encouraging young people into the sector through campaigns such as #NoWrongPath and #SummerofEngineering.
Having a diverse workforce is also important for Robertson. Operating in a male-dominated sector, the company has already attracted women into roles such as Site Manager, Quantity Surveyor and Group Communications Director – and is keen to do even more.
That’s why Robertson is supporting of Igniting Inspiration, a unique year-round campaign which celebrates women leading transformational change in business and society. Robertson is proud sponsor of the Community Champion award, which recognises women who are making a difference in their communities.
Through Igniting Inspiration, all nominations are published across social media, bringing their positive stories to a wide audience and inspiring others to get involved. The awards are the brainchild of Inspiring Women Changemakers Founder and prominent Yorkshire businesswoman and lobbyist, Anj Handa.
A nominee in this year’s category includes school Office & Finance Manager, Christine Rayner, who works hard to ensure that, despite difficult economic times, children in her school have the resources in place to give them the best start in life.”
Last year’s winner of this category was Cllr Dinah Keal. Di first got involved in local politics twenty years ago when Norton, her community, was flooded. She led a successful campaign to get £10.3 million flood defenses to protect local people. At the same time, she has raised three daughters, has held down a full-time job at the Alzheimers Society and supported her husband, who suffers from severe OCD.
